es, the rumors are true. After weeks of speculation, Dakota Fanning has officially joined the cast of Twilight's highly anticipated sequel, New Moon, Summit Entertainment confirmed this weekend.
The 15-year-old actress, whose breakthrough role was in the 2001 film I Am Sam, will play Jane, a sinister vampire with an angelic exterior who is a member of the Italian Volturi family.
Shooting for the Twilight sequel, which sees Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner reprise their roles as Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, and Jacob Black, respectively, will begin in Vancouver later this month. The movie hits theaters on November 20, 2009.
Most recently, Fanning starred in The Secret Life of Bees and Push, and voiced Coraline. And Twilight fans may get to see her alongside star Kristen Stewart in another movie, as she is negotiating to join the cast of rock biopic The Runaways as singer Cheri Currie. Kristen is set to play Joan Jett in the film.
